Todays topic is iframes, and CSS in Dreamweaver. Reading is HTML & CSS Chapter 9 (video, audio) and Chapter 8, pages 189-190 (iFrames).
- iframes site of the day from: Bridget
Framesets are now part of Web history. For another look at current design, mostly commercial, (formerly featuring iframes) see TheBestDesigns or consider this AI site for look-and-feel..Also, About.com (now Thoughtco) discussed <frameset> and a return to supporting framed sites.
As I said, iframes get used when loading other content such as AJAX. Lots of videos are done that way e.g. YouTube (Share->Embed) and in Canvas, rather than using <video>.
And this custom Google map I did is also in an iframe:
View Exploring Nutrition boundaries in a larger map
This is an embed from YouTube:
(that you should watch at some point). And here's a quick demo of targeting to an <iframe>. These two images will load in the iframe first loaded with a lovely cat photo.
This covers iframes for emdedding JavaScript.
For Dreamweaver, take a look at the Dreamweaver Help Pages-Introduction-Guided tour of Dreamweaver. For CC trial version, and documentation go to the Adobe site. The free trial is currently only 7 days, so you might want to wait and use it to make the animated GIF in Photoshop.
