ENG 330

Annotated Bibliography

Your assignment is to come up with at least 10 online resources pertinent to your Web site. At least five of these will appear in some capacity (as integral links or as a “link list”) on your content/information site. Each bibliographic entry should be cited according to MLA style (see links on the Jan. 31 page). This assignment is due (in typewritten or word-processed form) on Feb. 28 (new date).

A Note on Annotated Bibliographies

An annotated bibliography is formatted like a traditional bibliography or works cited page, but the citations include a brief 1-paragraph (2 or 3 sentences) description of the source, including what is on it and who produced it. You must write this—don't just copy and paste. It also includes a sentence or two at the top describing the topic, your particular take on it, and maybe the intended audience and so on.

Please remember that

  • online sources must be of respectable origin and recently maintained;
  • sources must be actually available for review
  • sources must be relevant to your proposal topic(s). Topics can be any subject that you feel is appropriate for in-depth treatment on your personal Web page.

Please remember also to

  • scan or survey each source;
  • determine its identity and possible biases or preferences;
  • critique the apparent quality of the information offered, and the ease of access.

Add any other information about the source which you think would assist a future researcher. The grading of this assignment is based on 1) your correct use of the MLA style, 2) the quality and quantity of your sources, 3) the quality and usefulness of your annotations, and 4) grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
