Be sure that you’ve given me your e-mail address and other personal information on hard copy. We’ll run through the process of setting up the space for your Web sites next class. Telnet or SSH (using a program called puTTY) are used to create your Web folder (the public_html folder) on the La Salle Web server (alpha.lasalle.edu). However, that folder should already be there.

Go to Filezilla (FTP client) to see if it is already there. When you log on here or at home, set the HostName to:
alpha.lasalle.edu,
User ID is the same as you used to get in to lab. Password should be
12345_abc where 12345=first 5 of your Social, then underscore, then abc=first 3 of your last name. No need for the Port number. Hit "Quickconnect." Later your login info is stored in the dropdown list.

If you haven’t got a copy of Filezilla at home, go to Filezilla Project and download the free Home trial version (only good for 30 days). Use the same steps to log in from home. You can also try to use ftp through the browser at ftp://alpha.lasalle.edu (works better off campus).
