October 29

Part 2

First, here is the Kuler site from Adobe. Today’s topics are color theory and color on the Web.

Reading: Visual Design for the Modern Web Chapter 5, and HTML, XHTML & CSS Appendix E and back cover.

  1. We have seen some earlier sites that discuss images. Take a look (back?) at the WPDFD discussion of images and pallettes and their brief treatment of the practical aspects of colo(u)r theory.
  2. Here’s a site to convert RGB values to Hexadecimal code RGB to Hex converter.
  3. Test BGCOLOR, LINK, VLINK, ALINK in a frameset derived from Javasource.com.
  4. An accurate one-page summary of color theory from Liquisoft.
  5. A color chart that a lot of developers use from Visibone.
  6. Color wheels plus some schemes from Color Matters.

But Web designers seem less concerned with traditional color theory that deals with color Harmony. I’ve scanned in a color wheel and some graphics that show color schemes.

Remember information sites are due online Thursday. You have the checklist handed out and here is a link from our library on finding images on the Web.
