DHTML Menus

11/12/13

These are some of the more promising sites for DHTML, specifically dropdown (really, fly-out) menus.

Csscreator dropdown menu, Webbedenvironments dropdown, Jessett dropdown, Coolmenus from dhtmlCentral, Milonic (lots), NavSurf (zipped), the DynamicDrive menu library (try Anylink Dropdown for basic style), BrotherCake (free to non-commercial users only) and a commercial site: OpenCube (says it's free with linking but check platforms) Suckerfish. This is the source of the jQuery example I showed here.

OpenCube is (seems to be) a free, fully functional trial app that some people swear by. It's definitely worth a look—take a look at the console (About), Sample It, and look at who's using their menus.

You can also create them easily with Dreamweaver's Spry widgets in CS5. Start with this video that shows Spry tooltips and vaslidation widgets. Here's what one looks like.
