Intermediate CSS Workshop
Week 4 Review Questions
-
Which two of the recognized media types are most alike? Why?
-
According to
http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/media.html,
the media types (aural, braille, embossed, handheld, print, projection, screen, tty, tv) can be
categorized according to four criteria:
- continuous or paged
- visual, aural, or tactile
- grid (for character grid devices) or bitmap
- interactive or static
(Though it is possible that a media type can be both grid and bimap or be both intractive and static depending on
circumstances.)
The above reference includes a table of types and how they are categorized. There it can be seen
that print and projection belong to all of the same categories: paged, visual, bitmap,
and static. From this point of view they would be the most alike.
But if you take a different perspective, that of the page's audience, then you might say that
braille and embossed are most alike.
