The Week of March 1
- Homework:
Plot something using Excel. Find some data (the
high and low temperatures for a few days, stock
prices, batting averages, data from another class,
anything you can think of) and plot it in a meaningful
way using Excel. Do not copy anything straight out
of the Excel book. Your chart should have a title
and/or its axes labeled. If it has a legend, the
legend should be meaningful (i.e. it better not say
"Series 1, Series 2" which is the default in Excel).
Hand in a printout of your Excel spreadsheet.
- Reading:
You might read about absolute versus relative
addressing and the IF function in Microsoft
Excel 97 (Shelly, Cashman and Quasney), 3.23-3.27.
We probably won't get to them this week, but
they are topics that take some getting used to.
- Monday:
Excel demo: xy plots and fits.
- Wednesday:
Lab on xy plots and fits.
- Friday:
