September 6th: The first will be in September when we will partner with the Logan Community. LaSalle will participate in the 3rd annual “Lets Love Logan Community Day”, September 6th. The festival will be filled with games, music, dancing, a talent competition, children’s activities and resource information tables. Branch Out here would need help in set up and break down of the events, coordinating games and activities, and be of general assistance as needed.
October 4th: The second day will take place on October 4th when LaSalle will partner with Philadelphia CARES. Philadelphia CARES holds an annual volunteer event in which thousands of residents in the tri-state area participate in this large scale volunteer project. LaSalle will be a part of this year’s Philadelphia Cares Day. We will be volunteering in local LaSalle community schools active in clean up
and restoration of facilities.

This is an invitation to YOU to become an active participant in Branch Out! This year, we encourage you to join us in either day or both! Please help to continue the tradition of Branch Out here at LaSalle!

Dear Neighbor:

We are writing to invite you to participate in our 8th year of Branch Out. While it has been our tradition to start our academic year with a day of service we have made a major change in our approach. Branch Out will be an ongoing commitment throughout the academic year. Every first Friday and Saturday of the month, beginning in October and ending in April, with the exception of January, teams will be going into the community for BO. This change has come about for many reasons.

Last year, after months of preparation BO was rained out. We were very disappointed but our wonderful student leaders made lemonade out of lemons. They created mini Branch Outs throughout the academic year. The idea was a good one because it gave us flexibility, and contact with the community throughout the year.

It is our intention to work in partnership with you in a project that will last about three hours. The time will vary depending on the availability of both groups. With the option of either a Friday or a Saturday we hope to meet community and student needs, and create a good experience.

Please contact us if you would like to be a Branch Out site. Please bear in mind that we cannot guarantee the availability of a team but we will work hard to recruit one. We will let you know two weeks prior to the date whether we have been able to arrange a joint project.

Every team will have a faculty or staff advisor to go with them and who will be in communication prior to the day of service to work out the details. We will fill requests on a first come first serve basis giving preference to those requests that are partnerships between the La Salle University and community groups.
