CS 152 Spring 2003 Assignment 4 – Information Literacy – Finding and Evaluating Sources using Library Search

Due: 02/14/2003 at the start of class.

Main Assignment:

Use the search capabilities (databases etc) provided by Connolly library to locate source material relevant to the following topic. Print the citation page of two relevant sources. Specify where you located the source (e.g. what database, and what search criteria). Evaluate, as much as possible given the citation page, using my enhanced CARDS criteria as given on the hand out (also can be found on the research materials page on my WWW site). It is preferable if you evaluation is done on computer using Microsoft Word.

· Is genetic engineering of food safe? What are the risks and benefits? This could also include the safety of feeding livestock genetically engineered products, such as corn.
