Due: 01/27/2006 at the start of class. 

Main Assignment:

            This assignment needs to be done on campus; part I must be done in our lab while I’m there.    

Part I

A) Change the screen saver to have the words YOUR NAME is Working Here (fill in your name).  There are at least 2 screen savers that allow you to specify text in the screen saver. Make sure you show me your environment before you log off.  This task needs to be done in the lab while I am there. Try to do it BEFORE the due date.

B) Change folder options so that “Hide Extensions for Known File Types” is NOT checked

            Part II

            Using Windows XP Explorer

A) Create a folder on a floppy disk called spring2006.

B) Create a folder inside that folder called CSC152

C) Within that folder, create two other folders named Sports and Movies

D) Use Windows Explorer to find Public on Stu_srv1 (F: drive)

E) Copy FROM folder (F:\Data\Redmond\CSC152\Spring2001) the seven files found there into the appropriate folder (Sports or Movies)

F) Note that these are old files. Question: When was the softball file last modified?

G) Rename YOUR copy of the file football.txt TO  americanfootball.txt

H) Turn in your disk, carefully labeled with your name, with the proper files in the proper places on the disk.

This is an exercise in using Windows Explorer. There are other ways to do these tasks. Be a La Sallian, use the Explorer.
