2. Telemedicine:

Telemedicine is the term used to talk about telecommunications technology to provide, enhance, or expedite health care services, as by accessing off-site databases, linking clinics or physicians’ offices to central hospitals, or transmitting x-rays or other diagnostic images for examination at another site. Telemedicine provides equal care services to everyone no matter what there geographical location is. Telemedicine is important to patients who live in areas where the medicine is hard to get to. It is important to the hospitals and doctoral as well as the patients. Families who have serious health issues and are in a difficult living area where it is hard to get into contact with physicians and medicine. Hospitals should also know about telemedicine so that they can see if there is any way that there hospital can help provide telemedicine to the people in the area. Also transportation services should know about telecommunication so they can see if there is any way in which they can help transport these medicines to the these patients.

10. Disk Defragmenter

Disk defragmenter is important because as you use your hard drive, blocks of information for a file spread across the hard drive, wherever there is room. This “fragmentation” of the information in a file can lead to a significant slow-down in file access times because the disk’s read/write head must move all over the disk, looking for the various portions of a file. Disk Defragmenter arranges the blocks of information for a file into adjacent blocks on your hard drive, which may significantly improve the file access times. This also is important to all computer users because disk defragmenting helps your computer have a faster speed because your computer saves everything that you go to and you could be using that space but it is being blocked by other unnecessary stuff on your PC.

One of the most fundamental aspects of computers is the concept of a network. By definition a network is a “series of points or nodes interconnected by communication paths.” Although to the average person this may not make much sense, when applied to their everyday use of computers the idea of a network can become more understood. Certain kinds of networks and their connections can be defined with dial-up and virtual connections. Networks can become huge interconnected systems such as the internet. This feature is applicable to many people because of the network’s abilities to exchange information. Though many don’t know the complete breakdown of what a network consists of, networks are essential to the common man as well as the well informed user.

Another concept is that of spiders. The term spiders can be said to be more of a metaphor than anything else. This is because by definition a spider is a “program that visits other sites and reads their information in order to create entries for a search engine.” This program is not only beneficial for the everyday person, but is especially helpful to students and others who are eager to find loads of information without having to search in libraries or by other means. And because a spider “does not (or can not) go through firewall” the wishes of the user and the search is respected and narrowed. Spiders should be known by all who are interested in attaining information in an easy way.

One of the most important parts of a computer is the chip. A computer chip is defined as a microchip that is a complex circuitry for microprocessors. Some areas where these chips have been utilized include Apple, Motorola, and IBM. There are also different types of chips such as: application-specific integrated circuits, which is said to be used in vehicles, home appliances, and telephones. It would seem that without the use of these chips, our ways of transportation, communication, and everyday activities would be limited. Although chips may not be important or even known to the everyday person, they are an essential part of our daily lives.

CRT Monitor-

·        A CRT or Cathode-Ray Tube is a technology used in most televisions and computer display screens.  It works by moving an electron beam back and forth across the back of the screen.  Each time it does this it lights up phosphor dots on the inside of the glass tube, when this happens the active portions of the screen are illuminated.  By drawing many lines from the top to the bottom of the screen it creates an entire screen full of images.

·        CRT Monitors are important for displaying the information in the hard drives of our computers.  Without the monitor the computer would be hardly useful to us.  They are also important for the viewing of our televisions in which we use to broadcast information, news, and entertainment.

·        The CRT Monitor is important to just about everyone in today’s world.  At least to all computer and T.V. owners.  Not everyone needs to know about how they work though.  In fact, most probably don’t know how they work.  They are just referred to as the “monitor” for your computer….you know the “thing you look at”.

Disk Cache-

·        A disk cache is a mechanism for improving the time it takes to read from or write to the hard disk.  It is usually included in the hard drive of today’s computers, and can also be a specific portion of random access memory or RAM.  The disk cache holds data that has recently been read and in some cases data areas that are assumed to be accessed next.

·        They are important because the more disk cache a computer has the faster the programs are going to work.  An upgrade of RAM will include an upgraded disk cache and will allow your computer to run faster due to the cutting off of time that it takes to read the hard disk.

·        It is very important to all computer owners, so that your machine is running smooth and fast.  Without a disk cache, all computer owners would be annoyed and work would take forever to get done.

·        Not everyone needs to know about the disk cache though, in face most computer owners probably don’t.  It seems that they are getting to be more recognized by people looking to buy newer faster computers.  All people involved in the technologies of computers should know about them and large companies would greatly benefit if they knew a great deal about them too.  In this day and age it is all about being faster and better.

A program that controls a device. Every device, whether it is a printer, disk drive, or keyboard, must have a driver program.  A driver acts like a translator between the device and programs that use the device. Each device has its own set of specialized commands that only its driver knows.

A device driver is important because it acts as a link to make sure devices and programs are working together and efficiently.

Device drivers are important to all users of computers because they make sure everything is working together like a well oiled machine.

Computer programmers, casual computer users do not necessarily need to know about them, but if a device driver fails to work, they will have known it.
