CIS 624           Fall 2004         Assignment 5 – Cognos Transformer – Creating a Data Cube

Due: Start of Class on 12/07/04

Task:

            Using Cognos Transformer and the data in for Cognos.txt (available on CD-R; it is too huge to e-mail or post to the www), create a data cube with contents as shown on my WWW page (registrations under Cognos at http://www.lasalle.edu/~redmond/teach/624/resources.htm)

• The data source type is “Delimited-field text with column headings” instead of Access.
• The measures should include: credHrs and NumCourses.
• The Course_Dept hierarchy should also include Title and course_ID
• The FacultyUniq_Dept hierarchy should also include FT/PT and instructor last name
• The Campus hierarchy should also include Building and room
• The Year hierarchy should also include Semester/Yr
• The Home State hierarchy should also include City
• The Day/Eve hierarchy should also include Time Band, Start Time, and Day Time

Check your work. Turn in the model file and the data cube file. This will be too big for floppy, you will need a CD.
