CSC 152: The Week beginning February 21

- Homework:
Write a two-page paper (in Word, double spaced, 12 pt
font) on one of the following topics:
- What is encryption? How is it done?
- Discuss privacy on the internet; for example
the case of Timothy McVeigh vs. AOL.
- Discuss security on the internet.
- Discuss a recent court case involving the
internet or a computer company.
You should include:
- A header with your name as well as the course
number CSC 152 (making a header is NOT just
typing your name at the top)
- A title, centered in bold 14 pt. font
- At least one reference (it can be a web site).
Note it should be a proper reference. For
instructions on how to reference a web site see the
MLA (Modern Language Association) web site.
- Staple to your paper a printout or photocopy of the
first page of your source(s).
Due: Feb. 28
- Reading:
Start looking at Microsoft Excel 97 (Shelly,
Cashman and Quasney). You might also want to look at
this Excel tutorial website or
this one.
- Monday:
Introductory Excel demonstration
- Wednesday:
- Project 1 in Microsoft Excel 97: Introductory
Concepts and Techniques.
- Go to the web, find the high and low temperatures
predicted for the next five days, enter them into an Excel
spreadsheet, and make a column chart.
- Friday:
Column graph. Formatting an Excel column graph
and incorporating it into a Word file. Use
these instructions to make
