Now let us fix the period T, which is the time required before the motion begins to repeat itself. One can estimate it by taking the time between two consecutive high points. (Actually it is probably better to determine the difference between the first and third high points and divide by two, or the first and fourth and divide by three, etc.) After adjusting this parameter, the two curves should have the same frequency (i.e. take the same amount of time for a cycle).
