My name is
Marsha Wender Timmerman and I am an experienced research entrepreneur.
I joined La Salle in September 1999 to assist in the development
of the ISBT program, specifically the biotechnology sector. I
spent the previous 14 years with biotechnology start-up companies.
I was a founding scientist with Enzymatics, Inc. a medical diagnostics
company. At Enzymatics I was one of the inventors of the QED®
Saliva Alcohol Test, a test that measures blood alcohol using
saliva. After Enzymatics, I co-founded JWT, Inc. a sports medicine
company that developed and manufactured LacTest®, a lactic acid
test kit for endurance athletes. I was President of JWT until
its merger with Binax, Inc. I have hands on, practical experience
in biotechnology, industrial microbiology, biochemistry and water
pollution treatment. I am very interested in biotechnology research
that has practical applications and has entrepreneurial potential.
My one claim to national fame was being named the 1995 Working
Woman Magazine Entrepreneurial Grant Award Winner. I am co-inventor
of four US and several international patents.
