Welcome to the first of a two-course sequence that will give you an in-depth look at corporate financial reports, the product of financial accounting. Financial reports provide critical information to investors and creditors, who must decide whether to buy stock or make a loan to a particular company.

The course is intended primarily for accounting majors, who as professionals will have the responsibility of preparing and evaluating corporate financial reports. However, anyone working in business needs to understand financial statements. Imagine trying to work as an investment banker or financial analyst without a detailed knowledge of financial reporting. Try managing a business without understanding "the numbers." An accounting education is not just about training accountants. You will get the foundation you need to run a business.
