CSC 152: The Week of September 25
~
- Homework:
Use Word to make a resume. Go to File/New, the Other Documents
tab and choose Resume Wizard. The Resume Wizard will ask some
questions and then set up a template for you to enter your information.
(A template is just a kind of table, if you find yourself dissatisfied
with Word's resumes, you can start from scratch using a table.)
Make sure you do not choose too many overlapping headings (Summer jobs
can be put under Work Experience; there's no need to distinguish Hobbies
from Interests) and make sure they are placed in a reasonable order
(Education and Experience go before Interests, and so on).
- If the return address font size looks too small, increase it.
- Your email address may end up underlined. If you want eliminate
the underlining, highlight the email address, click on Insert and
Choose Hyperlink. Then click the box Remove Hyperlink.
- If your resume is short, you might increase the font size but
don't go too high. On the other hand, try to keep your resume to one
page unless your profession requires you list various certifications,
and so on.)
- If your resume is short, add a fuller description of your responsibilities for positions you have held.
- Spell check it!
Hand in a disk with the Word file (LABEL IT!!!!) as well as a printed version.
