1. I began playing lacrosse when I was in fifth grade. I originally became interested in the sport because all three of my older brothers had played growing up. Two out of three of them continued their lacrosse career in college at Jacksonville University and Ohio State University. In middle school, I decided that I wanted to continue my lacrosse career in college as well, so I had to work extra hard to make varsity and get recruited.
2. I put in extra work after practice almost everyday the summer before freshman year of high school. My hard work paid off because I made the varsity team when I tried out that spring. After making the varsity team, I set my next big goal of getting recruited to play Division 1 Lacrosse. I went to recruiting tournaments the Fall and summer of my Freshman and Sophomore year. During the summer of Sophomore year, I was invited on my first college visit to La Salle University. This visit included a tour of the school and a meeting with the coach. When I came to La Salle I liked the campus and got along well with the coach, but this school was the only school I had visited and I did not want to commit until I had seen other schools. When the coach offered me a spot on the team and scholarship, I asked for time to make my decision. After this, I went on to visit American University and had kept in contact with a few other schools such as Mercer University and High Point University. I made a pros and cons list for each school and made a decision in fall of my Junior year of high school. I decided that La Salle was the best fit for me and committed to play lacrosse.
3. Although I loved the game and had worked so hard to reach my dream, I decided to call it quits my junior year and walked away from the team. My decision was impacted by my want to focus more on school and have time to explore other interests. This decision gave me the opportunity to graduate early, in December of 2019. Due to my decision, I also received the time to complete an internship during my last semester. This internship has given me real world experience and has allowed me to have a better understanding of what type of job field I would like to pursue when I graduate.
4. Despite the fact that I did not finish my college career playing lacrosse, I am forever thankful for the sport. Without lacrosse I would have never visited La Salle University and enrolled here. I have learned so much from my experience at La Salle and have made so many amazing memories. My new friends are now my family and I owe that all to lacrosse.
