MMS enables multimedia messages containing content
such as pictures, music, images, graphics, and ring tones. MMS is
expected to be one of the key services that will drive demand for
WAP and GPRS. The MMS standard, based on 3GPP and WAP Forum standards,
includes an MMS mail client on the device, a WAP gateway for sending
and receiving messages, and a multimedia messaging service center
(MMSC) for storing, transcoding and relaying messages.
See the Tools section of
this page to download the recent version of the MMS SDK.
Client MMS Capabilities
Developers can now use the Openwave® SDK 6.2 to start validating
their MMS content on devices that will ship with Openwave MMS software.
The Openwave MMS Toolkit leverages the Openwave Mobile Browser core
features to provide MMS networking and MMS message viewing functionality
that complies with the WAP and 3GPP MMS specifications, the GSMA
M-Services Guidelines, and the MMS Conformance Document. View Details.
Openwave MMSc
Openwave is actively recruiting developers to
begin creating MMS-enabled applications and services using its standards-based
developer API and SDK. We are currently providing a Java implementation
of the MM7 standards which allows developers to programatically
deliver MMS messages via any MM7 compliant gateway. The Openwave
Developer Network is also operating a live MMSc for developers.
If you are interested in testing your MMS applications through the
Openwave MMSc, please visit the Openwave
Developer website and fill out the interest form there. An Openwave
Developer Services engineer will contact you with the connection
details once you have been provisioned
