Long-term Community Service Opportunities

"There is joy in transcending self to serve others."
~Mother Teresa

"Life's most persistent question is 'What are you doing for others?'"
~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Through La Salle University, postgraduates are able to continue helping and serving the community through long-term volunteer programs. University Ministry and Service aids in finding the right volunteer program for the interested student. Here are a few programs our graduates have actively participated in:

Lasallian Volunteers of the de La Salle Christian Brothers

Mission Statement - The Lasallian Volunteer movement offers a unique opportunity for an individual to respond to Christ's call to the service of others, especially the poor. The response is a one to three year experience in the field of Christian education or related human development services. During this period of service. Lasallian Volunteers affiliate themselves with the ministry of the De La Salle Christian Brothers, sharing fully in the apostolistic and community life of the Brothers.
Jesuit Volunteer Corps
Mission Statement - The JVC offers men and women the opportunity to work full-time for justice and peace by serving the poor directly, working for structural change in the United States, and accompanying people in developing countries. The challenge to the Jesuit Volunteer is to integrate Christian faith by working and living among the poor, by living simply and in community with other Jesuit Volunteers, and by examining the causes of social injustice.
Peace Corps

The Peace Corps is an internationally reknown volunteer service. Tens of thousands of Volunteers have served villages, towns, and cities around the world since 1961. Interested in becoming a Peace Corps Volunteer? Need information? Check these sites:
